Bronchogen (Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu / AEDL Tetrapeptide)

Khavinson family bioregulator developed at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Synthetic tetrapeptide developed for bronchial epithelium modulation, used in Russia as adjunct in chronic bronchitis and COPD. Most efficacy data is from one Russian lab; independent Western replication is essentially absent. Sequence is AEDL: vendor and Russian academic consensus; some legacy reference docs truncate it as 'AED'.

Mechanism

Per the Khavinson 'short-peptide bioregulator' hypothesis, AEDL is proposed to bind DNA in the major groove at guanine N7 sites, modulating gene expression in bronchial epithelial cells. Mechanism is contested in mainstream pharmacology because tetrapeptides are normally degraded in serum within minutes. Reported preclinical effects: increased secretory IgA in BALF and regeneration markers in animal models; modulation of bronchial epithelial differentiation markers, anti-inflammatory effects (decreased COX-2, TNF-α), restoration of mucociliary clearance markers in animal models.

Dosing

No standardized human dosing has been established. Every catalogued study for Bronchogen is preclinical or a literature review. Amounts used in animal models do not translate directly to humans.

20 mg vial; 2-5 mL BAC water. At 4 mg/mL, 100 mcg = 0.025 mL.
