Livagen (Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala / KEDA Tetrapeptide)

Khavinson family bioregulator developed at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Synthetic tetrapeptide marketed as a hepatic / liver bioregulator, derived from analysis of Cortexin and liver tissue extracts. Most efficacy data is from one Russian lab; independent Western replication is essentially absent. Sequence is KEDA (Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala), vendor-confirmed, despite some legacy reference docs listing it as 'AEDK' (transposition error).

Mechanism

Per the Khavinson 'short-peptide bioregulator' hypothesis, KEDA is proposed to enter hepatocytes and bind specific DNA promoter regions, modulating expression of liver-specific genes. Mechanism is contested in mainstream pharmacology because tetrapeptides are normally degraded in serum within minutes. Reported in vitro effects: increased protein synthesis in aged rat hepatocyte cultures (toward young-rat levels) at nanomolar concentrations, restoration of intracellular circadian biosynthesis rhythms, heterochromatin → euchromatin conversion in lymphocytes.

Dosing

No standardized human dosing has been established. Every catalogued study for Livagen is preclinical or a literature review. Amounts used in animal models do not translate directly to humans.
