Khavinson family bioregulator developed at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Synthetic tetrapeptide researched as a cardioprotective agent in preclinical models. Most efficacy data is from one Russian lab; independent Western replication is essentially absent. No human cardiac biomarker outcome data.

Mechanism

Per the Khavinson 'short-peptide bioregulator' hypothesis, AEDR is proposed to bind histone proteins H1, H2b, H3, H4 at N-terminal peptide-binding motifs, increasing transcriptional accessibility of cardiac-specific gene promoters. Mechanism is contested in mainstream pharmacology because tetrapeptides are normally degraded in serum within minutes. Reported preclinical effects: three-fold mortality reduction after experimental cardiac injury with activation of cytoskeletal/nuclear matrix protein synthesis cited as mechanism; AEDR induces cardiomyocyte-specific transcription factor expression in cell cultures. Stimulation of cardiomyocyte proliferation and suppression of p53-mediated apoptosis post-injury (Khavinson group single-lab data).

Dosing

No standardized human dosing has been established. Every catalogued study for Cardiogen is preclinical or a literature review. Amounts used in animal models do not translate directly to humans.

20 mg vial; 2-5 mL BAC water. At 4 mg/mL, 100 mcg = 0.025 mL.
